Marine Biological Association of the UK

The Marine Biological Association (MBA) is a learned society, registered charity and a world-leading marine biological research institute founded in 1884. The MBA was awarded a Royal Charter in 2013 in recognition of its long and eminent history and its status within the field of marine biology. The MBA mission is to promote scientific research into all aspects of life in the sea and to disseminate to the public the knowledge gained. Since opening its Laboratory at Citadel Hill, Plymouth in 1888 the MBA has established itself as a leading marine biological research organisation conducting scientific innovation at the cutting edges of marine biology to enable discoveries of global significance. The MBA has supported the research of eleven Nobel Laureates and over 170 Fellows of the Royal Society.

The MBA hosts a cohort of world-class Research Fellows who lead active teams of scientists tackling fundamental and strategic questions with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The MBA brings PRIMaRE the expertise in biological research areas relevant to marine renewables, including:
